I didnt see part two? You mentioned the landscape position, (pushing down the two buttons, and moving it out). Is that the only time you move with the buttons, or with SI and DI too?
Hi Matt I am having trouble with the Soner screen. Works great on simulator, clean as,but on soner, All dotted, Would it be the unit? Or the Transducer? Any Help would be Appreciated. Many Thanks Joseph
I would check the settings for type of fishing, example freshwater, saltwater or ice fishing. Then make sure you have the right sonar selected. Lastly play with the gain
Does it have the ability to make a chart of a new lake or river? Like the river channel, navigation through deep or shallow areas? Yeah, I'm new to all this stuff
Just replaced one of mine. The hardest part for me was getting the actual buckle off the strap so i could put strap through the hole. Mine was SOOOOOO tight took me 15 mins to get it off..lol
Nice job. The only thing I don't love about it mounted to the motor shaft is that if you are using spot lock, your views just keep changing. I think I'm going to opt for the pole. Thanks for the video!
Great point. Been looking at the mega live for my helix. Thats my biggest concern, it's dependent on trolling motor direction with a trolling motor mount. I want to point the transducer in the direction I want to look regardless of where the trolling motor is. I'll probably do a pole mount setup.
I am guessing you are adjusting your sensitivity, I keep turning mine down until everything starts to disappear. Then I will slowly turn back up until I spot fish.
All electronics should go to the starting battery. Some people will use a battery just for electronics. In my case I have two batteries hooked together for my starting, they’re still 12 volts.
You fish for musky? You mentioned the moon. I am big time! I am looking to get the Ultrex Quest with a Helix 9 on the bow, and a 7 on the console. I am really hung up on the transducer aspect in relation to the TM. If I am fishing shore lines, going along contours, with the transducer on the TM, does the image "zig zag" in and out, as you navigate the TM? I am really turned on by the foward feature, and want to see the lure come in, with Mr. Musky following it! Thanks for any info, or from any other users!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So since you’re gonna be running humminbirds, you’re gonna want to get the quest with the built-in transducer for hummingbirds basically the MDI. So anything that transducer goes over the top of that’s what you’re gonna be seeing underneath the boat so if you zigzag the boat in and out, yes, that is correct when it comes to the forward facing sonar, if you zigzag in and out, but always keep the forward facing in one direction like a 45 to the bank you’ll always see that. That is very difficult to do when you use the trolling motor to go away from the bank because typically the transducer will be looking out deeper. If you want to constantly look at the bank, while the boat goes in and out, you need to put the transducer on a separate arm that you control manually.
When you have a forward facing transducer on the shaft or the trolling motor and you hit spot lock, trolling motor will constantly be turning and your forward facing sonar will look wherever the trolling motor is pointing. Hummingbird has released a new product called target lock, which is a secondary arm, allowing you to look wherever you want without influence of the direction of the trolling motor.
I clearly have to do some more research on this. I was trying to avoid a secondary arm, as in Mega 360, as I don't like all the extra "clutter" on the TM. I wasn't aware Target lock was a secondary arm. Thanks for the detailed explanation and reply.
@@BeardedBassBrawler In regard to interference, I have two Interstate batteries (24V) for my trolling motor. I'm looking to add a Tracker Lithium deep cycle battery to my graphs and SI, and eventually Target Lock. Will the two different style batteries create any interference or any other issues to performance? Thank you!!
Surprisingly, the hooks don’t really grab into the foam but every once in a while, I’ll get a swivel stuck to it. I just got a habit of tapping the top of the box a couple times before opening it.
Once you’re powered up and on the screen that you want to look at hit the power button once, you’ll see a menu pop-up look for edit overlay. You can turn everything on and off there and control the size and placement.
So far, I have gotten zero water inside my lockers. I do keep the boat inside a garage and I’ve only been caught in the rain once and was able to make it to a marina within about 10 minutes.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Thanks for this useful tutorial for kayak anchor set up. I notice you have set up your anchor trolley somewhat differently than most I have studied. Your set up only runs halfway along the starboard-bow side of your kayak then you seem to have another set up on the starboard stern side. Please describe the reason for this.
So when I anchor off the back of the boat, the nose of the kayak is going to have a tendency to turn a little bit to the right in the current and when anchoring off the bow it will turn to the left. This position my kayak for me to cast easier. Also when drifting with a sock in the salt water it gives me a better drift.
Do you have lake levels to worry about? The other thing that controls that is the number of Satellites. 3 satellites to get coordinates with like 50’ accuracy, 5 gets you to 15’ accuracy and 7 or more is down to 3-5’ accuracy

I just bought hooks 7 come with everything.. after installing and hit the lake.. I’m not getting water temperature and depth readings… it look like shallow water which is not. Am I missing something??
You might have to go to your settings and edit, overlay information and make sure that both of those are turned on. Typically with the temperature it’ll take a couple minutes to get to the right temperature after the transducer is in the water for a while.
I used the Hydro wave the last 3 days now and I feel like it worked well. The shad spawn is just finishing up and bass are chasing them like crazy. Right now seems to be the most effective. Winter time not as much.
Don’t really need one. There are probes on the transducer so when it comes out of water it quits. The Lowrance and Garmin have “boxes” and that is where the real drain comes from
If you’re running old-school batteries or you’re under powered, I can see where you want to do that but truthfully with today’s technology and with the right set up on your batteries, it’s just not necessary
